What to include in a request
A request with these details can be quoted without a round of questions. Send what you have and we will ask for the rest.
- 01Designation, for example C6x8.2 for an American standard channel, MC for miscellaneous channels, or UPN for European channels
- 02Grade, commonly ASTM A36, and the general requirements specification such as ASTM A6/A6M
- 03Length per piece, and whether stock lengths or cut-to-size pieces are wanted
- 04Quantity in pieces or tons
- 05Cuts, holes or other fabrication
- 06Finish: black, primed or hot-dip galvanized
- 07Documents: material test report with heat numbers

Questions
Questions
01What is the difference between a C channel and an MC channel?
Both are American rolled channels. The C (American standard) channel has tapered flanges, while the MC (miscellaneous) channel is a separate series with different proportions. The designation on your drawing tells which one is meant.
02Is a UPN channel the same as a C channel?
No. UPN is a European series with sloped inner flanges, named by depth in millimeters, and its dimensions differ from the American C series. Do not substitute one for the other without the engineer's approval.
03Can channel be supplied drilled or cut to length?
Yes. Send the cutting and drilling details with the designation and quantity so they are priced and checked with the material.
Send the specification. We will take it from there.
