Pressure gauge
Dial instrument that shows process pressure locally at the line or equipment.
In short
Dial instrument that shows process pressure locally at the line or equipment. JJ Projects sources it to the specification the buyer names. Typical reference, standards: ASME B40.100.
Specification references
Typical references only. The governing specification is the one on your purchase order or datasheet.
| Property | Typical reference |
|---|---|
| Standards | ASME B40.100 |
| Wetted parts | 316 stainless steel or as the fluid requires |
| Data to give | Range, dial size, connection and fill (dry or liquid-filled) |
Specification references describe what the order names, not a certification held by JJ Projects.

What to include in a request
A request with these details can be quoted without a round of questions. Send what you have and we will ask for the rest.
- 01Pressure range and units, for example 0 to 100 psi or 0 to 7 bar
- 02Dial size, for example 63, 100 or 150 mm, or 2.5 or 4 in
- 03Process connection: size, thread and position, such as 1/2 in NPT lower or back mount
- 04Wetted parts and case material, for example 316 stainless steel, and the fluid
- 05Fill: dry, or liquid-filled such as glycerin or silicone, for vibration or pulsation
- 06Accuracy grade under ASME B40.100, and the case safety features, such as a blowout back

Questions
Questions
01How do I choose the gauge range?
A common practice is to pick a range so the normal operating pressure falls in the middle part of the scale and the maximum stays within the limit the manufacturer states for steady pressure. A range far above operating pressure reads poorly.
02When should a gauge be liquid-filled?
When there is vibration or pressure pulsation, since the fill damps the pointer and reduces wear. The fill must be compatible with the fluid and the temperature. Oxygen service needs a special oil-free cleaned gauge instead.
03What is a diaphragm seal for?
A diaphragm seal separates the gauge from fluids that are corrosive, viscous, hot or prone to clogging, passing the pressure through a fill fluid. State the process fluid so the right arrangement is quoted.
