Head protection for industrial sites, rated for impact and electrical exposure.

**In short:** Head protection for industrial sites, rated for impact and electrical exposure. JJ Projects sources it to the specification the buyer names. Typical reference, standards: ANSI/ISEA Z89.1.

## Specification references

- Standards: ANSI/ISEA Z89.1
- Types: Type I (top impact) and Type II (top and lateral impact)
- Electrical classes: Class G, E or C

> Typical references only. The governing specification is the one on your purchase order or datasheet.

## Typical uses

- Head protection for workers on construction and fabrication sites
- Refineries, plants and shutdown or turnaround crews
- Visitor and inspector issue at industrial facilities
- Work near electrical equipment, using a class chosen for the exposure

## What to include in a request

A request with these details can be quoted without a round of questions. Send what you have and we will ask for the rest.

1. Standard the site requires, for example ANSI/ISEA Z89.1, and the edition if the site names one
2. Type: Type I for top impact, or Type II for top and lateral impact
3. Electrical class: G, E or C, chosen for the exposure on site
4. Suspension: pin-lock or ratchet, and the number of suspension points
5. Shell colors, brim or full-brim style, and any logo or marking wanted
6. Accessories: chin straps, sweatbands, face shield or hearing protection mounts, and liners
7. Quantity and the sizes or adjustment range needed

## Questions

### What is the difference between Type I and Type II?

Under ANSI/ISEA Z89.1, Type I helmets are tested for impact to the top of the head. Type II helmets are also tested for impact from the sides, front and back. Your site safety plan decides which type is required.

### What do electrical classes G, E and C mean?

Class G is tested at a lower voltage, class E at a higher voltage, and class C offers no electrical protection. Class C helmets are often vented and should not be worn near energized conductors. Choose the class for the hazard on site.

### Do hard hats expire?

Manufacturers state a service life for the shell and the suspension, and a helmet that has taken a heavy blow or shows cracks or damage must be replaced. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and your site safety rules.
